Description:

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

·          Greets patients and visitors to the health centers in a friendly and courteous manner

·          Schedules patients/provider appointments using Medical Manager accurately

·          Accurate and timely entry and updates of patient’s demographic, financial and insurance information (registration)

·          Verifies insurance status at each office visit

·          Maintains insurance panels in a neat and organized format

·          Confirms and/or cancels patient appointments by telephone or letter according to protocol

·          Maintains confidentiality of information about patients and their families

·          Request medical records according to protocol

·          Answers and directs telephone calls as assigned; takes accurate messages according to established protocol

·          Responds to patient questions or refer to appropriate staff

·          Provides back-up coverage for other staff as assigned

Requirements:

High School Graduate or equivalent. Minimum of two years experience in a health care setting and/or combination of certificates relative to the Registration Assistant/Front Desk position desirable.  Good typing and telephone skills.  Knowledge of HMO/Managed Care practices preferred.  Medical terminology a plus.  Bi-lingual desired.  Should have a fundamental knowledge of patient/provider scheduling modules.

2 FT Medical Assistant/Registration Assistants (1 FT 1999 W. Hunting Park Ave., 1 FT 5000 Woodland Ave.)
 


Description:

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

·        Prepares patient for office visits and assists clinician with physical examination and other examinations such as EPSDT, GYN, Prenatal, Family Planning, Podiatry, surgical procedures and treatments.

·        Schedules external referrals as ordered by clinician. Completes all necessary forms, medical record documentation and tracking required for scheduling the referral, provides preparatory instructions when applicable (barium enema, mammography).

·        Completes Laboratory Order Form; prepares specimens for pick up by Laboratory; follows Laboratory Tracking systems.

·        Maintains required logs.

·        Performs specific procedures ordered by provider, including preparation of specimens, ear canal irrigation, urine pregnancy test, other on-site laboratory testes and other procedures as directed.

·        Processes all medical forms as necessary.

 

Requirements:
Must have Medical Assistant certification. High School Diploma or GED required. One year of Medical Assistant training in primary care setting preferred. Associate’s Degree preferred. Ability to deal with people sympathetically and effectively to obtain necessary information.   Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.  Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel.  CPR certification required.

2 FT Medical Records Clerks (5000 Woodland Ave., 2520 Snyder Ave.)
 


Description:

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

·          Identify charts and pull same from files.

·          Maintain a current and accurate master patient file with identifying patient information.

·          Review charts daily for completeness and accuracy.

·          Add supplementary reports to charts.

·          Answer phone inquiries relating to the department.

·          Assemble patient charts in prescribed manner.

·          Complete deficiency list on each record indicating documentation deficiencies.

·          Process and answer routine requests for information from the medical record according to GPHA policy and local, state and federal regulations.

·          Identify out-of-file records by use of an outguide.

·          Maintain a numerical number system for incomplete charts to facilitate completion by providers.

·          Compile report on incomplete charts and forward to coordinator.

·          Refer “problem” and /or non-routine request to the Coordinator and/or Supervisor.

·          Answer the phone as necessary.

 

Requirements:

High School Graduate or equivalent, with the ability to learn and use alphabetical and numerical filing systems. Have good verbal and written communication skills. Maintain absolute confidentiality of Medical Records. Must have a complete knowledge and be able to abide by any local, state and federal laws applicable to a patient’s medical record.

Description:

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

·        Prepares patient for office visit and assists clinician with physical examination and other examinations such as EPSDT, GYN, Prenatal, Family Planning, Podiatry, surgical procedures and treatments.

·        Ensures all required forms are available and complete as needed; including lab reports or diagnostic results and required logs and referrals.

·        Maintains patient flow by anticipating provider needs, ensuring patients are in exam rooms at start of shift and prior to providers returning from lunch.

·        Completes Laboratory Order Forms; prepares specimens for pick-up by Laboratory; follows the Laboratory Tracking System.

·        Performs specific procedures ordered by Provider, including preparation of slides for pap smears, ear canal irrigation, urinary pregnancy tests, other on-site laboratory followed the Laboratory Tracking Systems.

·        Performs Lab Quality Control procedures accurately.

·        Stock exam rooms according to protocol.

·        Greets, give directions and information to patients, visitors, guests and sales representatives professionally and cordially.

·        Maintains a safe and orderly nurse's station and clinical environment, including but not limited to examination rooms, laboratory and supply closet.

·        Maintains confidentiality of information about patients and their families.

·        Maintains medical records documentation in accordance with GPHA standards, policies and procedures.

·        Provides back-up coverage for other medical assistants including lunch coverage.

Requirements:

Must have a Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA). High School Diploma or GED required. One year of Medical Assistant training in primary care setting preferred. Associate’s Degree preferred. Ability to deal with people sympathetically and effectively to obtain necessary information. Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant. Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel. CPR certification required.
